Observation Session – 19 August 2017

Location: Alpes – Col de la Bonette, France

Session duration: 2 nights

Sky conditions: Cold and stable atmosphere, seeing ~8/10

Instruments:

  • 100mm apochromatic refractor
  • 150mm Newtonian telescope
  • 7×50 binoculars

Targets:

  • Venus
  • Rigel
  • M33 (Triangulum Galaxy)
  • NGC 7000 (North America Nebula)

Observation notes:

Sky conditions were nearly ideal, with excellent transparency and very little atmospheric turbulence.

Despite the quality of the night, no satellite passages were noted for an unusually long interval.

The sky felt empty tonight.
